Forest of Reading Program at the Deep River Public Library

The Forest of Reading® is Canada’s largest recreational reading program! This initiative of the Ontario Library Association (OLA) offers programs to encourage a love of reading. The Forest helps celebrate Canadian books, publishers, authors and illustrators. More than 250,000 readers participate annually.

The Deep River Public Library is running the program for readers from Junior Kindergarten through Grade Twelve. Each program has nominated titles chosen by committees of library professionals. Participants read a minimum of five out of the 10 nominated titles in their award category. In the spring, readers vote for their favourite nominated title and choose the winners of the award programs. This is one of the few programs in Canada where the award winners are chosen by the readers.

Register for free at the Circulation Desk during opening hours. Check out the Forest of Reading® display in the library or ask a staff member for more information! The 2017 Forest of Reading® program will conclude with a grand finale voting party at the library on Thursday, April 20th from 3:45-4:30pm. Cast your ballot and join in the party!
