Monday was a big day for Room 131. We began the Global Read Aloud. This is an activity where classes from around the world read the same book, at the same time, for a month. This year's book is Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper. Over 1000 classes have signed up to read this book this year. The story is about 11 year old Melody, who has Cerebral Palsy. She cannot talk or walk, but she is the smartest kid in her school. We have already had a few thoughtful discussions and the children are eager to read on.
