Touching base

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone is well and finding things to do to keep you busy. I wanted to touch base to let you know how much I miss our class. While these times are uncertain, please know that I am here if you have any questions. We are awaiting direction from the Ministry of Education and the RCDSB at this time and I believe that should come shortly.

In the meantime, please do not stress too much about education. Our children are young and unsettled about what is happening in the world. Find simple things to learn/play around the house (baking, card games, etc.).

I will be getting in touch more in the coming days. Take care.

School Closure

As I'm sure you have all heard by now, the school will be closed for two weeks following the March Break.  While there is no specific work being assigned for that time, here are some things to work on with your child.
-quick recall of addition/subtraction facts to 20 and then relating them to larger numbers (i.e. 7 +3=10 helps us solve 70+30=100)
- multiplication facts to 7x7 (grade 3) and 9x9 (grade 4)
- writing short paragraphs of at least 5 sentences including an introduction and wrap-around (concluding) sentence.  Check for proper punctuation and grammar.  Students really like "would you rather" questions to form paragraphs. (i.e. would you rather be able to fly or run really fast)
-reading daily

Have a safe and happy March Break!

Pizza

Both the grade 3 and grade 4 students will receive their pizza on Thursday.

January fun!

The month of January was busy! Students learned about how energy is stored and transferred by building chain reaction machines. We also had a visiting scientist inform the class about reptiles, primarily snakes, in Ontario and how to recognize and protect them. Our outdoor education program continues with lots of fun activities including snowshoeing.

Snowshoeing

Out class plans to go snowshoeing tomorrow morning during outdoor ed.  If your child has their own snowshoes, they are welcome to bring them.
