Week 3
What a beautiful end to week 3! With the nice weather we headed outside this week for science and explored structures at a local building site and pulleys on sailboats at the marina.
We finally are able to access computers (they are wiped down between students) and students have been practicing math and language skills on a program called Freckle.
In Language we have been working on spelling patterns, grammar and writing proper sentences. This week we read about "Grit" and discussed how having a growth mindset helps us learn. That led to discussions about informational (non-fiction) texts and the students were eager to write some facts about an interest of their own. They have also been writing fun rhyming books based on the song "Down by the Bay".

Week 2
Another good week in Room 131! We are still working on routines and with the recent shut down of Fellows HS, I have been reinforcing the importance of hand washing, social distancing and only touching your own belongings/desks.
This week we have been learning about structures in science. We took to the woods and tested the importance of having a stable base and using string shapes like triangles and arches to build. We also went on a hunt for natural structures in our forest.

First Week
We survived the first week! The students have been learning lots of new routines and procedures this week. We also had a fun time "Saving Fred" on the first day of school. They have done an amazing job adapting to the new way of school life. It is wonderful to see children filling the halls/playgrounds of MCS again!
