No Excuse words
Today, a sheet with a set of "No Excuse" spelling words was sent home with your child. We are working on words that are most common in English writing. The first 100 words occur in 50% of adult and student writing, so if students can master these, and apply the spelling in their writing, they will see a great improvement in the readability of their work. Please practice the misspelled words with your child. If there were a number of misspelled words, focus on 10 at a time so your child does not become overwhelmed. We will also be practising them one-on-one in class.

Outdoor Ed
Just a reminder that we head outside most Wednesday mornings for outdoor ed. Please be sure students come with the appropriate attire for the weather. Extra layers is always a good idea.
Leaf Art
Last week during outdoor ed, students collected a variety of leaves and created some amazing art. Unfortunately, they had started to dry out a little by the time we photographed them.

Pulleys
We are currently exploring forces in science. Students have been learning about the types of forces and the concept of loads. We have been doing lots of hands on investigating including using large pulleys to explain the concept of mechanical advantage. Local scientist, John Wills joined us for this activity. Last week we headed down to the marina to check out how pulleys are being used in multiple configurations on sailboats.
We also have been learning what makes structures strong and stable.
