Outdoor Ed

We have been so lucky to have Mrs. Davis (Mrs. Bubbles) working with our class outside for the last few months. The students have learned an incredible amount about the natural environment around Deep River (including becoming excellent at identifying poison ivy). I have been having a difficult time finding an appropriate gift for the class to give her as she isn’t big on “stuff”. We are preparing a card but I thought we could find a way to give back to the community in her name as well (this is something she is passionate about). I decided to fill a backpack to donate to a local student (via North Renfrew Family Services). The backpack will have an outdoor education theme to it (ie. clipboard, bug spray, hat, permanent markers, as well as school supplies). If you have anything you would like to donate, please feel free to send it in. Anything of use to a child would be appreciated. We will be giving her the backpack on Thursday.
Thank you!

Classroom Camping and Mini-MOGA

On Friday, the students were surprised to find their classroom had turned into a campground.  They had lots of fun fishing, beading bracelets, playing games and hanging out in the tents.

Mini-MOGA was also a great success.  Mrs. Kittmer and the intermediate students had the day well organized and the kids had a great time!

Mini-MOGA

Tomorrow we will be having a mini-MOGA day.  During the second block, students will participate in a variety of outdoor activities.  A note went home last week that identified which house each student belongs to.  Please try to have your child wear their house colour tomorrow.
