Tomorrow

If the buses are cancelled tomorrow, please don't take any risks bringing your child to school.  I am not sure how bad the weather will be, but the forecast is not looking good.  We will be having a low key day and we can have a fun day in the New Year if necessary.  I don't want any student to feel like they will be missing out if they don't come.

Science North and DRSO

Last week we were treated to a couple of presentations.  Science North put on a show for us and we had a presentation by a couple of members of the Deep River Symphony Orchestra.

Our Trees

A couple of weeks ago, students had a chance to connect with their trees on one of the coldest days so far.  Although it was a brief visit, we wanted the students to try to experience how harsh the elements can be for their trees.  It was amazing to see them sit quietly and talk to their trees with the wind howling around us.

Book Orders

Scholastic Book Orders went home Tuesday.  They are due Friday as I want to give lots of time for them to arrive before Christmas.

Symmetry

Students used Lego to demonstrate their understanding of symmetry.

Exploring Pulleys

A couple of weeks ago John Wills, a retired scientist, gave our class a hands-on lesson on mechanical advantage.  The students were amazed at how just a few of them were able to pull so many by simply adding in pulleys.
