Last Day of School
Tomorrow we will be having a class celebration for the last day of school. Students are encouraged to bring a board game to play with classmates. They are also allowed to bring electronics if they wish. We will be watching a movie in the afternoon, so students can bring special snacks if they wish. I will be bringing some snacks in as well.

Historic Visit
Local historian, Tom Stephenson, joined our class yesterday to help educate them about early settler life. The students learned games played by children in pioneer times and played with historic toys. They also learned how to make rope and were each able to make their own skipping rope. The students had a great day!
Beach trip
Our class will be going to Lamure Beach on Wednesday, June 22nd (rain date Thursday, June 23rd). Permission forms have been sent home.

Performances
Our class was treated to two performances today! The first was a performance by the high school and intermediate choirs. The second was a play put on by Mrs. Waddington's 6/7 class. Both great shows and the class was a great audience!
Playing in the dirt
To explore the properties of soil, students spent some time digging in the dirt today. We gathered soil samples from around the school and then looked at them up close.

Important information about the field trip
Below is a reminder about the trip to the Heritage Village on Thursday. If you have any other questions, please email me.
To help create the atmosphere of a village in pioneer times we are being encouraged to come dressed in period costumes. Here are some suggestions that might help.
Boys: Wear suspenders and a white, collared shirt
A pair of overalls, or jeans with a work shirt
A bow tie
Boots or dark coloured shoes
Pants chould be tucked into a pair of work socks to make “knickers”
Jacket or vest
Girls: A dress with a fancy collar, or a blouse with lace or frills
A bow or ribbon in the hair; hair pulled back, braided or in a bun
Pinafore (an apron with a bib)
shawl
Students will need to bring a lunch for their school house lunch; please include an unbreakable container for water. For an authentic experience, we suggest that the students try to bring foods grown in the immediate area. Lunches back then were carried in honey pails or wrapped in a cloth. Here are some ideas for you to try: homemade bread or rolls, cold meat left over from supper, hard boiled eggs, cheese, jam, oatmeal or ginger cookies, pickles, vegetables from the garden, native fruits, and a container of milk, apple juice or lemonade. These are just ideas.
We plan to leave from MCS at 9:30 a.m. sharp. We expect to be back at MCS 3:00 p.m. and the students will go home at the usual time.
Plant Project
Most students have completed their Google Slide report on a plant. For those who have not, it is due on June 9th and the balance will need to be completed at home. The expectations have been shared with them in their Google Drive and their project can also be found there. They will be sharing their reports with the class during the week of June 13th.
