Earth Day Clean Up
Last Thursday, our class headed out to clean up our community. They were astonished with the amount of garbage they discovered around our waterfront. They became so passionate about getting it all, they even used sticks to retrieve things floating in the water. I am very proud of their commitment to keep our community green!

Leadership Students
This week have been working with the MCS Grade 12 Leadership and Physical Education class. The high school students have been teaching our class a variety of skills and then integrating them into fun games. We have loved having phys ed class in the big gym and learning new skills in a different manner.
2016 Evening of Song
The Evening of Song will be on Monday, May 9th (time to be confirmed later). This is the culmination of a year of hard work on behalf of the class and our amazing musical volunteer, Peter Morris. Although I realize that this may conflict with some sports schedules, this is the "finals" for our music team, and it would be disappointing if students let their team down.

CD Cases
For a science activity, I am looking for CD cases (preferably the thicker ones). If you have any you are willing to donate, please send them in with your child. Thank you.

Time
We have been practicing telling time. Students in grade 3 need to be able to tell time to the nearest 5 minutes using both digital and analogue clocks. A number of students struggle to read times that are close to the nearest hour (ie. 8:55) as the hour hand is almost pointing at the next hour (9). Please practice telling time with your child.
We are also working on passage of time. For example, students need to be able to identify what the time will be in one hour or what time an activity will finish if it takes 15 minutes. Try to involve your child in conversations regarding time.
